DEM provided urban design, architectural and landscape design services for the Future Connect Joint Venture Tender Bid for the WestConnex Stage 1B project which extends from the M4 at Homebush Bay Drive to the City West Link, Haberfield.

In accordance with the RMS WestConnex Urban Design Framework document, a ‘whole of corridor’ design  approach was adopted for the tender submission to ensure a motorway experience that would be legible, identifiable and integrated into the existing urban fabric. A key consideration was enhancement of the driver experience through the built form and landscape design. Reference to significant built and natural features along the route was made to provide visual cues and help create a stimulating journey.
