A recently completed seniors housing development in Kingsgrove designed and documented by DEM for the NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC). The project, which incorporates 16 self-contained units, is located within a low density residential neighbourhood and is to provide much needed accommodation for seniors that supports ageing in place, engenders a sense of community and is equitable with surrounding private housing.

Key objectives which drove the design were incorporation of sustainability initiatives focused on efficient use of energy and water; provision of good passive surveillance over common areas, car parking and the public realm; and inclusion of generous areas of planting to enhance amenity within the development and provide screening to adjoining properties.
