Metronode Data Centres

(now part of Equinix)

DEM was commissioned by Metronode to develop a high security modular data centre complex in Perth, WA. The facility incorporates 4 bladerooms (data halls) and a custom design tech space module with a total building area of 2,200 m² structured over 2 phases of development. Phase 1 of the overall master planned facility was competed in late 2013 and incorporates a 400 m² double storey tech space, two prefabricated data halls with a total area of 840 m², three prefabricated power modules, a services plant room and two switch rooms.

The Sydney 2 facility was developed for the NSW government as part of its Data Centre Reform Project which consolidated a number of disparate small and less efficient IT facilities into two new centralised locations. The overall site facility incorporates 12 bladerooms (data halls) with a total building area of approximately 9,312 m², and a total of 15 plant rooms with an area of 3,280 m² housing generators, electrical switchboards and uninterrupted power supplies.

The Sydney 2 Data Centre at Silverwater received a 4.5 star NABERS DC rating - the first awarded to an Australian data centre.

Illawarra 1, Unanderra

The Illawarra 1 data centre complex incorporates 12 bladerooms (data halls) with a total building area of 6,530 m² structured over 4 phases of development. The bladerooms utilise direct free air cooling for the computers resulting in a significant reduction in energy compared to the requirements for internal air conditioning associated with traditional data centre design. The facility also incorporates 15 plant rooms with a total area of approximately 3,350 m² as well as technical space.

Phase 1 of this project was completed in September 2013 with subsequent phases rolled out from 2015.

Canberra 1

DEM developed a new Modular Data Centre in Canberra, ACT based on the latest state-of-the-art modular prefabricated Blade Room technology.

The Canberra Metronode Data Centre site required the development of a long term master plan for the future roll out of a number of stand-alone data centres on the site over four development phases and the full design, documentation and construction of the phase one component. This project also incorporated the latest in security planning and technology, including biometrics and a range of sophisticated security protocols.
