This home features passive design elements and sustainable methods of construction. Products used have low embodied energy and are compatible with ecologically sustainable development. Linking pavilions have perfect north aspect and there is significant use of double glazed glass in the design to allow for passive day lighting and heating. In all of the living areas windows are positioned to promote cross flow ventilation. Calga White sandstone, used as feature walls throughout the house, was sourced locally, minimising need for transport. Solar panels, positioned on the roof, produce approximately 26kw of power per day.
