Ausgrid Learning Centre, Silverwater
Ausgrid’s Learning Centre was the first project in Australia to be awarded both a 6 Star Green Star Education Design v1 certified rating and an As Built v1 certified rating from the Green Building Council of Australia, which represents ‘World Leadership’ in sustainable design and construction. The 15,000m² centre provides a state-of-the-art education facility for one of the largest groups of apprentices in training in New South Wales.
The campus model adopted for the Learning Centre created a series of significant internal and external courtyard spaces which were designed with a strong relationship between indoor and outdoor training areas as well as between training and recreation areas. Ground level and roof deck activity zones were created that extend building functions into adjacent outdoor spaces.
Lindfield Village Green, Sydney
The Lindfield Village Green project transformed an at-grade car park into a multi-functional civic park that features a café pavilion with outdoor dining area, two gazebos, interactive water feature and area for markets and outdoor events. A three-level car park located beneath the open space incorporates 105 commuter car parking spaces and 136 spaces for general public use. Sustainability initiatives include photovoltaic panels on the pavilion roofs, electric vehicle charging stations within the car park, and stormwater management and water sensitive urban design measures.
The Village Green forms part of Ku-ring-gai Council’s vision to provide improved local infrastructure and facilities to enhance the community and economic life of Lindfield.

Como Baptist Church, Perth, WA
DEM recently completed a Concept Design and Development Application for the Como Baptist Church site at Robert Street, Como, WA. The development proposal retains existing church functions and provides additional facilities for expanded and enhanced church uses as well as new retail and commercial facilities, and apartments.
The design approach was to redevelop the site as an open precinct providing the opportunity for the Church to integrate with the neighbouring residential community and incorporates:

Morling College, Macquarie Park
DEM was appointed by Morling College (Association of Baptist Churches of NSW & ACT) to prepare a Masterplan Concept for their site at 122-126 Herring Road, Macquarie Park. The client sought to create a vibrant, nurturing academic community integrated with student accommodation, commercial space, private residential apartments, convenience retail, restaurants and cafes, and high quality open spaces.
The masterplan was designed to support the growth and vibrancy of Morling College and the wider Baptist community as well as to contribute to the revitalisation of the Macquarie University Station Precinct.

Westfield Warringah Mall, Brookvale
DEM was engaged to provide landscape design services as part of the redevelopment of Warringah Mall. The landscape design addressed environmental requirements and community expectations by providing a mixed plant palette of indigenous trees, shrubs and low maintenance groundcovers. The indoor spaces feature lush, tropical, sculptural species with advanced plant specimens and dense planting utilised to provide impact from day one.
Wally's Walk Pedestrian Spine, Macquarie University
Reconstruction and upgrade of the main walkway and public domain of the principle pedestrian circulation axis through the Macquarie University campus, known as Wally’s Walk, named as a tribute to Dr. Walter V. Abraham, Macquarie University’s Planner from 1965 to 1983.
Wally’s Walk provides a direct link east to west across the campus, from the Macquarie University Research Park to the Early Childhood Building, approximately 800 metres long. It provides forecourts to major buildings and incorporates connections to secondary and tertiary access paths.
The design reinforces the pedestrian ‘street’ character of the walkway through appropriate lighting, furniture and street tree details.
Cochlear Global Headquarters, Sydney
DEM was appointed to provide Landscape Architecture and Environmental Consultancy services for the Global Headquarters of Cochlear Limited in the Southern Precinct of the Macquarie University Campus.
An aboveground carpark was designed by DEM to current Australian standards, and features raised planters for tree planting to provide shade.
The project adjoins University Creek which is undergoing rehabilitation to provide a high quality riparian zone and recreation facility.
Marsden Park, Campbelltown, Sydney
The Park Central masterplan prepared by DEM transformed 37 hectares of underutilised grassland into a vibrant residential community with an extensive greenspace – Marsden Park – at its heart.
The central focus of the Park is a watercourse modified to create wetlands, ornamental ponds and cascades. This project demonstrates the ecological and recreational benefit that successful creek corridor rehabilitation can achieve.
Within Marsden Park a variety of activities are catered for by the inclusion of walking, jogging and cycling tracks, picnic and BBQ facilities, a number of seating areas and a children's playground. A variety of open space treatments from informal and naturalistic to structured and ordered cater for different users and experiences.
Brighton-Le-Sands Promenade, Sydney
DEM prepared a masterplan for the beachfront at Brighton-Le-Sands, which has guided development over the last 20 years. Featuring a public promenade and shared way, the masterplan has proven flexible enough to allow for changes in response to community needs and has been embraced by the local community.
DEM has also been responsible for the design, documentation and project management of foreshore works including a timber boardwalk, elevated lookout areas, concrete steps to Lady Robinsons Beach and feature lighting which allows for extended night time use. An elevated public promenade also provides a safe off-road shared path on the Cooks River to Georges River network on Botany Bay foreshore.
Hoxton Distribution Park, Sydney
Hoxton Distribution Park is located on the former Hoxton Park Airfield site. DEM were commissioned to provide a front entry statement incorporating interpretive elements to highlight the sites former uses including a RAAF airfield during World War II.
Cowra Peace Precinct Environmental Management Plan
DEM has prepared an Environmental Management Plan for the Peace Precinct in Cowra which encompasses a unique part of Cowra’s history and geography. It is approximately 190 hectares of contiguous public land that includes the State Heritage listed Cowra POW Camp 12, the Cowra Japanese Garden, Bellevue Hill Reserve and the culturally significant Crown Common running along the ridgeline that links all of these facilities.
The project involved extensive consultation with the community, government authorities, adjacent property owners and other stakeholders.

Design and documentation of inner city pocket parks for the City of Sydney including:
