Ausgrid Learning Centre, Silverwater
The Learning Centre facility for Ausgrid (formerly Energy Australia), provides a high quality and efficient educational environment for apprentices and staff. The Centre caters for a variety of training, administration and corporate activities and has been designed to create a landmark, environmentally sustainable facility. The overall built form consists of four interconnected pavilion style buildings arranged to create a series of significant internal and external courtyard spaces for both training and recreation.
The project is the first in Australia to be awarded both a 6 Star Green Star - Education Design v1 certified rating and a 6 Star Green Star - Education As Built v1 certified rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.

Morling College - Ministry & Learning Centre
As part of their new master-planned Macquarie Park precinct, Morling College engaged DEM to design the interiors of their new flagship building - the Ministry & Learning Centre. The new MALC facility provides a dynamic multi-use space for Morling College that facilitates collaboration between students, staff and guests. Enhanced facilities and adaptable spatial arrangements have been created to support a diverse range of workplace modes.
A consistency of finish throughout is highlighted by the dynamic central core of the building, whilst detailed floor and ceiling finishes to key areas define spatial arrangement and purpose.
The project includes a large 600+ person auditorium and a library space housed across two levels.
Finance Lab, Macquarie University
DEM collaborated with Macquarie University stakeholders including the Faculty Dean, professors and lecturers to establish and develop a brief for a new learning and teaching Financial Laboratory as part of DEM’s large scale masterplan for the Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE). The project involved the adaptive re-use of an existing office area to create a new open teaching space with views to an adjoining ground level courtyard.
The Lab allows for the analysis of financial data and is broken down into four areas including a syndicate area, an open plan collaborative space, incubation area incorporating flexible arrangements of loose furniture, and an audio and visual interactive entry.
Building E4b, Student Services, Macquarie University
Upgrade of the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Student Service Centre to provide enhanced facilities and multi-functional interior spaces to support a variety of work styles and modes including collaborative focus and socialising. The spaces were designed to reflect and reinforce the brand value of the Faculty of Business and Economics and include:

Wynyard Green, Sydney
An alternative and innovative approach to the provision of education within Sydney’s CBD. DEM developed a vision for a new centre of education bringing a number of education providers together in a single building that was strategically located close to transport, public realm amenity and the City’s business community. The vision created the platform for providers to co-locate and strengthen individual brand awareness through the marketing of a single education precinct.
The 22,000m² fitout incorporated extensive base building services upgrade within a heritage building as well as education and administration facilities. Strategic internal planning ensured that future change could be accommodated without impacting on fundamental design elements or operations.
Commerce Building, Macquarie University
An environmentally sustainable facility designed for the Division of Economics and Financial Studies in the form of two buildings linked by a double level enclosed bridge over a central landscaped courtyard. The 3 storey northern building houses the teaching and computer lab facilities, and the 7 storey southern building houses administration and staff accommodation and facilities. Internally, open plan work spaces and glazed partitioned offices allow natural daylight and natural ventilation to reach central portions of the building. The building’s BMS controls a naturally ventilated operable façade system, that includes window sensors and automated external louvres; water efficient plumbing; and stormwater detention and re-use.

Navitas English - Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth
Navitas is a world leader in the development and provision of educational services and learning solutions. Following the success of the Wynyard Green project in Sydney, Navitas took the opportunity of expanding their educational campuses nationally and engaged DEM to rollout the design and fit-out of their offices in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
DEM was instrumental in developing the Navitas architectural brand, product typical data sheets and developing and documenting the design guidelines for Navitas retail, which is now adopted internationally.
Being highly student focussed, the planning centres around student break out and computer ‘touchdown’ areas whilst also providing state of the art lecture spaces with access to natural light and clear “sight lines” / visibility throughout.
